The 13th Annual Conference of the International Snoezelen-MSE Association (ISNA-MSE) will be in session in Crete, Greece next week (October 25 – 27). Globe Star Director Dr. Anthony M. McCrovitz, who serves as a board member for the association, will be addressing the theme, Discovering the Human Core through the Senses. His talk is entitled: Engaging the Senses for a Unified Self: connecting the emotional self with the social self through multi-sensory environments.
The presentation will discuss how we might accurately determine foundational value of sensory experience and relate this to the building of relationships.
Connecting and interconnecting influences between motor perception and sense perception will be discussed, and how a unified self, that includes the sense of one’s body (‘body ownership’), resonates with contemporary predictive coding (PC) models of information processing.
Predictive coding (PC) relates to how we can anticipate results and achieve expected outcomes. Utilizing the learning the relationship-building framework of Gentle Teaching, and integrating the knowledge of prominent PC theory in our applied practice, generates life-affirming outcomes that sustain a culture of HOPE.
