The Quality of Life Institute, Inc., is committed to supporting the quality of life of caregivers* worldwide, and their practice of ‘mentoring a spirit of gentleness’ for Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities.
These are direct service professionals who interact with Individuals on a regular basis, building mutually beneficial relationships by cultivating companionship and developing a sense of community with those whom they serve.
Globe Star agencies employ direct service professionals who are reliable and committed to their work, delivering a quality of life model of service that is formulated with the principles, practice and promise of Gentle Teaching.
Caregiving work, as we know, can be very demanding. It would be ideal if paychecks could fully represent the gratitude we all have for those who dedicate themselves to this service work, but often this career choice is living paycheck to paycheck. Without realistic time to take advantage of opportunities that support caregivers striving to continue their professional development, caregivers can easily miss out, especially for some who are balancing the demands of the work they genuinely feel called to do with raising their own families.
Globe Star supports the Quality of Life Institute and its goals to improve the overall quality of life of the caregiver/direct service worker, to value them and their contribution to our society in the care of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In order to achieve this goal, the Quality of Life Institute relies on Globe Star and the generosity of community members, family and friends, to provide means for supporting our Direct Service Professionals.
The Institute provides means and supports that enable the development and delivery of Gentle Teaching-based, quality of life services by all agencies of care worldwide, who are welcome to access and utilize the Institute’s research and resources.
The Institute develops, produces and curates the means for continuing education and professional development, paid training, seeking benefits to support the overall well-being of caregivers, creates educational presentations, technology integration programs, and curriculum materials that support training, coaching and the facilitating of workshops that benefit professional development and the delivery of services.
